Our Story

The Fish Cove (our original name) in Westvale Plaza was founded in 1948. Carl Falgitano, our beloved grandfather, had a dream to be his own boss. After serving in the army in World War II, he married and supported a family, which also included his immigrant parents from Italy.

With no money, but a lot of ambition, he fulfilled his dream. The Fish Cove was the first tenant—and currently the oldest tenant—in the plaza. Carl worked at the store with many faithful employees.
Through the years, our cousin Lou Falgiatano also worked at the store. Lou started in 1956, when he was only 14 years old. Lou is an amazing, hardworking man who was loved by Carl and the customers. He is the hardest-working man you will meet, and still works part-time in his retirement.

During his tenure, The Fish Cove hired Peggy Piccioni, who worked for Carl from 1953-1956 until she took a family leave. She came back in 1959, and worked until 2008. Peggy is like family. You will not find two harder-working people than Lou and Peggy. They cannot be replaced!

Carl's daughter, Carlene Tamburo, is a second-generation member of The Fish Cove family. She started working in 1978. Carlene learned the business from her father and spent many hours working and raising her three children. Carlene retired in 2010, but still comes into the store about ten hours a week. She has a strong devotion for the store, and it still shows.

Through the years, Carl's daughter Kathy has worked at the store too. She will assist if needed and the customer's always like to see her. All of Carl's grandchildren have worked at the store too. Jeffrey, Steven and Tracy worked through High School and College. You will still see Jeffrey on Friday nights up at the front register cashing people out.

The Westvale Fish Cove is now run by the third generation. Owners Tracy and Michael have learned the business from everyone involved and thoroughly enjoy each day. They work each day for Carl. Our fresh market stays true to its original recipes, quality seafood, and customer service. We have the best customers around!

The most recent generation loves to visit. Tracy and Michael's children, Avery and Alexandra—and their many cousins—make our store a true family business.
